Description
Marshall County currently has an opening for a  Part Time - Center Manager at the Douglas Senior Center. The individual selected for this position oversees the operation of the senior citizen center. Assures meals and activities are provided on a regular basis. Supervises both paid and volunteer staff working at the center. Arranges for transportation to and from center for participants. May perform as a substitute driver. Keeps records and writes reports.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

A.    Oversee the operation of a senior citizen center

  1. Supervise center nutrition staff and volunteers
  2. Plan and conduct special activities for center participants
  3. Order necessary supplies and meals for participants
  4. Conduct telephone surveys and assessments of participants or prospects
  5. Clean or supervise the cleaning and straightening of center
  6. Make deposits of donations weekly
  7. Arrange for and, if necessary, provide transportation for participants

B.   Keep records and prepare reports

  1. Keep accurate records of meals served and activities involving participants
  2.  Record results of assessments
  3. Complete required reports in a timely manner

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of TARCOG and Marshall County budget, contract and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of management and supervision practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of nutrition problems related to aging
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and county rules, regulations, policies, and laws related to older persons
  • Knowledge of computer applications to record keeping and report writing
  • Ability to read a wide variety of materials both verbal and numeric
  • Ability to write reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year or more experience in working with programs for senior citizens
  • Training or experience related to physical and mental changes related to growing older preferred
